The Velvet Village is a nostalgic brand offering an eclectic mix of fine art, illustration, clothing and accessories. With minimal waste ethics, I source the vintage and upcycle the unusual that celebrate and support your wild and wonderful weirdness. By opting for handmade items that last, together we can reduce the waste of fast fashion.
'The Velvet Village' was born by making giant hair bows and accessories for well known pin-ups and alternative models, mainly in the U.S. With rapid growth in popularity, TVV was soon supplying accessories for music videos such as Little Mix, Cher Lloyd and Lost Alone. My handmade wares have been seen on Eurovision Song contestants and appeared in magazines such as Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Heat and Blanc as well as filling the catwalks at the UK's largest fashion event, Clothes Show Live. It's been a long, fun and sometimes challenging ride. In more recent years I have limited my range of accessories offered, to focus more on my artwork and my 'reducing waste' ethos. Since the start of 2023 I have been working from my very first studio space in Derby's Banks Mill, surrounded by creatives, with the intention of honing my fine art and venturing in to homewares. The Velvet Village, ever evolving.
